Ministry Health Care Selects EHR Doctors’ Medibridge.net Technology to Meet Meaningful Use of Clinical Information Exchange

EHR Doctors announced today that Ministry Health Care will use EHR Doctors’ Medibridge.net health information exchange (HIE) technology to make patient health information securely available to patients in the communities it serves. Ministry Health Care is one of Wisconsin’s largest integrated health system serving patients in Northern Wisconsin.
The Medibridge HIE technology will enable patients at Ministry Health Care’s hospitals to access and exchange patient information in the form of interoperable summary documents. These documents — known as continuity of care documents (CCDs) — provide a portable summary of a patient’s care history, including problem lists, lab results, medications, allergies, histories of medical procedures and more.
“EHR Doctors is providing a key component that was missing in our comprehensive, multi-vendor electronic health record for our hospitals” said Ministry Health Care’s Vice President of Enterprise Applications Steve Pelton. “The electronic exchange of coded, structured patient information with the CCD generated by EHR Doctors will be the key to securely share patient information with other health care providers in our region.”
EHR Doctors will first implement the exchange of patient summary documents between Ministry’s GE Centricity Enterprise clinical systems. Ministry and will then extend the data exchange to include the health system’s hospitals that use other electronic health record systems. The immediate goal is to use the Medibridge.net technology to meet the requirements for incentive payments under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Meaningful Use program. Over time, the Medibridge.net technology will allow Ministry to connect to the state Health Information Exchange (HIE), and engage patients through a patient portal
